The American Heart Association’s  “Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care” published in the October 28, 1992, issue of The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA, Vol 268, No. 16) state:

      “Supplemental oxygen should be used during cardiopulmonary emergencies as soon as it is available.”

      “…oxygen should not be withheld for fear of suppressing respiration if hypoxemia is suspected or if significant respiratory distress is present.”
